With a fairly diverse selection of art galleries, visitors to Nottingham will be treated to a feast of modern and contemporary pieces at the Angel Row Gallery, in the Central Library Building.
Nottingham's lakeside Arts Centre is the place to head for community crafts and a more rural feel, while the Sherwood Forest Art and Craft Centre features many workshops and busy studios.
Most galleries in the city of Nottingham feature free admission and a range of art works by national and local artists, both for viewing and for sale. Nottingham Castle also features an impressive art gallery, with changing exhibitions and also many permanent collections, including a number of colourful and valuable ceramics. A leading gallery in Nottingham's thriving contemporary arts scene, the Angel Row Gallery features a number of changing exhibitions throughout the year, many of which reflect the current trends and latest visual arts. Artists who have their paintings and sculptures displayed here are all living and gallery staff are always nearby, should you wish to ask a question or enquire about purchasing one of the pieces. Workshops, talks, courses, family events and games for children are often available at the gallery.

One of Nottingham's most impressive arts venues, the Lakeside Arts Centre is highly regarded throughout the Nottingham region for its extensive series of exhibitions and art works. The centre features three main galleries, the Djanogly, Wallner and Westin gallery. Other highlights include the compact Djanogly Recital concert hall, and the Djanogly Theatre, which offers a fairly extensive programme of theatrical and musical events. There are also plenty of local art works on display, together with a number of locally made craft works for sale. The Lakeside Arts Centre is home to a couple of excellent cafes and surrounding parkland.

Located in the very heart of the famous Sherwood Forest and to one side of the nearby village of Edwinstone, Nottingham's popular Sherwood Forest Art and Craft Centre lies on the northern side of the city, close to Ollerton. With 16 workshops and artists' studios, exhibitions, a shops area and a forest cafe serving a range of hot food and snacks, the arts centre boasts many seasonal activities, a glazed atrium and an attractive courtyard area with nearby picnic facilities.
