Around Nottingham there are seven park-and-ride locations with more than 3,000 spaces, allowing you to park your car with ease and travel into the city by either bus or tram.

A major, award-winning airport serving the city of Nottingham and also nearby Derby and Leicester, the East Midlands Airport is located roughly 29 km / 18 miles south-west of the city, close to Kegworth and Castle Donington. Each year, more than 2.5 million travellers use the airport, with airlines transporting passengers to a number of domestic and European cities. The airport dates back to the 1960s and has expanded greatly over the years, offering excellent links to the country's motorway network and being especially close to the M1 and M42. Bus transport links the airport and the city, with bus number 5 being the most convenient, running from Victoria bus station every hour from Monday to Saturday, and every two hours on Sundays.

Renting a car is a great way to travel around the city and its many central districts. The main roads in Nottingham are all clearly signposted, with many controlled by traffic lights and roundabouts. Large car parks are scattered all over the city, particularly around the main hotels and shopping centres. Two popular multi-storey car parks can be found off Maid Marian Way, on both Friar Lane and Mount Street, close to Nottingham Castle.

Further car parks lie along Canal Street, Collin Street (next to the Broadmarsh Shopping Centre), Glasshouse Street, Pilcher Gate, Stoney Street, Talbot Street, Upper Parliament Street, and York Street (next to the Victoria Shopping Centre and the bus station). In total there are in excess of 13,000 secure off-road parking spaces and an additional 1,500 spaces along many of the city's streets.

There are two separate bus station in Nottingham, located on either side of the city. The Broadmarsh bus station is situated along Canal Street and next to Middle Hill, south of the city centre, while the Victoria bus station stands to the north, along York Street and close to Union Road. City bus transport is both cheap and convenient, linking many places of interest. If you intend to travel further afield, both Trent Buses and National Express coaches offer a range of routes and destinations.

A fast, modern and efficient tramway network is now available in part of the city, with the main line running between the Wilkinson Street Park and Ride and the city's Hucknall area, stopping at the Lace Market and also the Old Market Square. The route stretches for around 10 km / 6 miles, parallel to the Robin Hood train line and 4 km / 2.5 miles between the railway station and Hyson Green.

Nottingham lies on the southern side of the city, sandwiched between Station Road, Queens Road and also Arkwright St. North. Two large car parks are situated nearby, with long-term parking options available. The building itself is a particularly grand baroque-style structure, complete with clock tower, and was built at the very beginning of the 20th century. There are six platforms currently in operation at the Nottingham train station, providing travel to and from Birmingham, Chesterfield, Grantham, Leicester, Liverpool, London St. Pancras, Manchester, Mansfield, Peterborough, Sheffield, Skegness, Worksop and many other prominent towns and cities. Train tickets are often cheaper when booked ahead.
